ADHD Couples Counseling

ADHD can make relationships feel harder than they "should." Fights get bigger faster. One partner can fixate on an issue while the other can't understand the intensity of it. It's hard to explain how your brain works to someone whose brain doesn't work that way, and daily life often requires more reminders and planning than either of you expected, which can leave you both feeling alone, frustrated, or burnt out.

Together, we'll work on:

  • Understanding before solving. When your brains work differently, it's easy to miss each other's intentions. We slow down and build mutual understanding first, so the solutions that come after actually fit.

  • Rebalancing grace and accountability. For the partner with ADHD, hyperfocus can lock you onto an issue while "out of sight, out of mind" can push it aside just as fast. Both can leave things unresolved. We work on catching that pattern in real time.

  • Shifting the fight itself. The goal is to move conflict from "How do I make you understand?" to "How can I better show up in this relationship with you?" That's a different conversation, and it changes what's possible between you.

  • Reconnecting, not just resolving. Love is about seeing and understanding each other's experience. We build that back first, then work on what needs to change.

If ADHD is part of what's making things harder between you and your partner, I'd be glad to help you both find your way back to each other.
